Chrome diopside is the transparent chromium-green variety and the trade face of the species: an intense grass green at a fraction of tsavorite's price. Doubling of facet edges and RI around 1.68 confirm it quickly. Best in earrings and pendants where its 5.5-6 hardness is not punished.
